Who am I?

I was born on 1959-01-24 in Menen, a small town in the south of the province of West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, Europe.

I lived there for about 18 years with my parents and my two sisters. I went to school in Menen and studied physics at the university of Leuven (1977-1981).

In 1982 I married Christine, a lovely girl from Brugge, the Venice of the North. Our family of five lives in Assebroek, a small town outside the old part of Brugge. We have three boys named Frederik, Jeroen and Michiel.

Since september 1982 I work as a lector in KHBO, a college of higher education. I teach physics and informatics; my students graduate as chemical and clinical lab assistants or dieticians.

I’ve always been interested in computer science, especially in programming (Pascal, C, C++, Delphi, JAVA). But nowadays I love to do some web site management and graphics, animation (Flash MX) for educational purposes.

Several years ago, I worked with Frontier for the first time. Now I do all my web site management in Frontier. I learn scripting and do like using Manila for my weblog. My latest discovery Radio Userland is released and I try to follow the development rather from a distance. XML-RPC, HTTP, outliners, Pike, Manila, it’s all wonderfull stuff.

I want to learn PHP as well, to work on some database connection in a LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). I think my son Jeroen is also very interested in computers. Now he’s studying MCT in Kortrijk.
